    A cottage owner has gotten quite sick - possibly from the lake water.  He has been hospitalized with respiratory problems since late last week.  Here is an update from him and a cautionary message in his own words:

    New Law Effective May 1st 2014

    During our 2nd CSLAP sampling session on Sunday June 8th, Joe Pasquini and I observed a thick yellow scum along the shoreline around the entire lake.  We suspected tree pollen but took a HAB sample just to be sure.  Well, turns out we already have a HAB this year!  Here is some text from Scott Kishbaugh's note to me (NYS DEC):

    September 2013, The Algae advisory has been lifted by the DEC as the water temperature cools and the bloom has dissipated.  We all had a busy but very enjoyable summer at the lake, with plenty of new memories to add to the scrapbook.  See you next year!
